Donations
SharedLivesPlus is a charity. We are dedicated to ensuring that many more people can live
the lives they choose, at the heart of their communities.
As the UK network for services which bring people together to support each other,
we help registered
Shared Lives carers, who share their family and community life with an adult or older person
who visits or even moves in with the Shared Lives carer and their family.
Homeshare helps an older person to stay living in his or her own home, with the support
and companionship of a younger person who needs accommodation and is happy to
help out a little. Disabled and older people themselves are at the helm of many
of the
micro-enterprises in our membership.
With your support, many more people will be able to live full lives, in ordinary
family households rather than care homes.
We currently need to find funding to:
- provide more Shared Lives carers with the support and advice they need to cope
with and enjoy their caring role
- support more people to set up and run very small community services (micro-enteprises)
- develop Homeshare in the UK, bringing it to more older people and young people
who lack housing
- raise awareness of our members' work and influence government, tackling the red
tape which can get in their way
- carry out more research into what works, developing our support for new groups
such as care leavers, ex-offenders...
- develop a national scheme which will help Shared Lives carers offer breaks and
holidays to people from other areas
We employ no fundraisers and ensure that any donations we receive are used effectively
in our essential work.
How to Donate
You can donate to SharedLivesPlus by calling our office on 0151 227 3499 for details or by post to: SharedLivesPlus, Cotton Exchange, Old Hall St, Liverpool, L3 9JR. Please make any cheques payable to 'Shared Lives Plus'- thank you.
Gift Aid
Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity.
Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, SharedLivesPlus will receive an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue (as at March 2011).
This means that a £10 Gift Aid donation, is worth £12.80 to the charity - and
it doesn't cost you a thing.
Leaving Money to SharedLivesPlus in a Will
What are legacies?
A bequest from a donor's will is one of the more traditional forms of giving
to charity and remains a very important one.
There are two types of legacies:
Residuary bequests This means that once family and loved ones have been provided for, the remainder
or a proportion of the deceased's estate is pledged to one or more charities.
Pecuniary bequests This means that the deceased pledges a specific sum of money to a particular
charity.
How do they work?
Charitable legacies reduce the total amount of inheritance tax due from the estate.
Legacies are left through the donor's will or simply by a declaration to the executors
with instructions as to how and to which charity a legacy is to be distributed.
